Brookfield, Wis. – In its second round of what promises to be monthly donations, the C.A.R.I.N.G. Group Elmbrook gave more than $600 this week to two schools in the Elmbrook School District, reflecting the support and participation of both consumers and businesses in the program.

The C.A.R.I.N.G. Group Elmbrook donated $502.77 to Swanson Elementary School and $113.42 to Dixon Elementary. The money can be used at the individual schools’ discretion, with no strings attached.

Swanson Elementary will once again spend its newly-donated funds on classroom library books, just as in November when it received a nearly $1,000 donation from the C.A.R.I.N.G. Group Elmbrook. Dixon Elementary will use its donation toward converting a section of its library into a comfortable, interactive learning space where students and teachers can examine and explore the library’s materials and informational resources.

The C.A.R.I.N.G. Group Elmbrook (#CARINGforelmbrook) has donated more than $2,000 to schools in the Elmbrook School District in just two months. The non-profit organization is a consumer-focused initiative that brings together residents and businesses to support local schools.

Consumers can register as C.A.R.I.N.G. Group Elmbrook members at When they purchase products and services from participating businesses, a portion of the sale is donated to the member’s chosen school(s). Members select their schools when signing up. No dues, fees or upfront costs are involved. All public and private schools in the Elmbrook School District geographical area are included.

“As the first two rounds of donations have demonstrated, the C.A.R.I.N.G. Group model is very effective for generating money for schools, just by consumers making purchases that they could make on any given day,” said Tom Gaumond, President of The C.A.R.I.N.G. Group Elmbrook. “We encourage everyone to join in, and also to ask their favorite local businesses to participate in the program.”

Businesses interested in participating in the C.A.R.I.N.G. Group can sign up at The only criteria are that the business must be based in the Elmbrook School District, or have an owner who lives in the district.

C.A.R.I.N.G. stands for Companies Actively Reinvesting In Neighborhood Growth. The concept was originally developed by Todd Ruedt, a Brookfield native and owner of Grounds Maintenance Services, as a dual means to support schools and the local economy.
